I've now butchered 5 animals and I will never take a butcher for granted again. If anyone has ever wondered, one rabbit is equal to two wood pigeons, ie 200 grams.

When you say 'butchered', do you mean merely cutting them up, or did you go the whole hog and do the decapitation, skinning and evisceration yourself?

Unlucky. We can't have pastry in the rain, and I can't have Mrs P chilled to the bone. It is always much colder and windier here than down in the town. We must have the food served inside I think, with roaring fires, and perhaps switch the Pimm's for hot punch!

Oh dear, I forgot to mention that I'm a vegetarian! Mr Juju doesn't hold with such nonsense however and is already salivating at the menu. No worries though Joce - we shall bring some vegetarian fare with us.
We will be in 1920s period costume - we didn't have time to organise Regency outfits! Mr Juju is fretting about suitable headgear though so we've got to rush into Witney this morning and hope that charity shops or the market will have something for him. I'm not sure my flimsy outfit will stand up to rainy windy weather so I may actually arrive in wellies and a long coat.

A heavy rain shower is forecast for 4pm, so food will be served in the dining room. I can squeeze another table in there so hopefully should be able to seat us all - pity it's a cottage, I knew I should have bought that enormous rectory in Chatteris. Never mind, we will be a cosy party.
Thanks for offering to bring vegetarian food Juju, that's much appreciated. With the forecast being as it is I'm unlikely to be lighting any barbeques, but there is cheese, and green salad, and tomatoes from the greenhouse, and rice salad, and potato salad.
And I wanted this to be a surprise, but can't keep it in, little chicks are hatching as I'm typing this!

I don't know where to start!
I had an amazing day. The house was so interesting that a week wouldn't be enough to poke about, ask questions, measure things and speculate.
Spectacular views and setting.
Joce is a fantastic hostess and I love her lots. The guests were wonderful and so knowledgeable, I wish I had arrived much earlier.
Food :shock: fantastic. Cat, enormous. :lol:
I couldn't sleep last night trying to imagine which rooms the undercroft were beneath and trying to work out where all the fireplaces were, under and over each other etc. :lol:
(I think, sitting room is over the aga room, bedroom over the dining end of kitchen, another bedroom over the sink end of kitchen and hall is over wine cellar and passage.) :?
Missing persons were missed muchly.
I won't name names as it upsets the ones not named )

It was a fabulous do. I approached the house on foot, walking up a hill through a delightful meadow, and for a moment I felt as if I was in a Jane Austen novel. The illusion was only briefly suspended when I passed some cars at the gate, but as I entered the house and saw the print room, the sideboard heaving with game pies and our hostess in her stunning period costume I was back in 1800 again. And so nice to meet everyone!
