Of course, any opinion or dodgy piece of info can be turned into a fact by adding 'I believe' at the front.

I believe Reading FC are the greatest football team in the world. That's a fact (that I believe it) even if it based on very dodgy grounds.
'I think that Fosters lager tastes like water' is also a fact. It's what I think. Without the 'I think', you are left with an opinion.
A bit like the 'recyclable' label - of course, everything is recyclable if you make enough effort. Whether it is practical to is another matter. Or 'made from trees taken from a sustainable forest' - again, all forests are sustainable, what matters is whether they actually are sustained.

I think that basically most reading this and looking at the reports from the Met Office can see that while rainfall over a year has changed not a great deal since records began, we have had extreme and apparently unseasonable rainfall in a short space of time this year.
Record-breaking rainfall figures
The Met Office today can reveal the three months from May to July 2007 have broken records for this period, even before July is over.
Provisional figures from the Met Office show that 387.6 mm of rain have already fallen across England and Wales, making it the wettest May to July since the England and Wales Precipitation record began in 1766.
We may have less rain for the next few months which will balance this out over the year, we may have more, it's not a simple matter to predict is it?
This may yet prove to be the wettest year on record. It may not. What all those flooded out by summer floods will tell you is that it matters not a jot if we have no rain from now until Christmas, the fact so much came all at once was a surprise and it would be interesting to know why it happened.
What cannot be disputed is that there are scientists who think this could be the results of sudden climate change, and such change is being brought about by man's activity.
There are people who will tell you it's because of divine retribution too, and sincerely believe that.

And thinking oneself a scientist does not make someone one. If you've read much psychiatric research you'll have noticed that one.
And of course, being a competent and expert scientist does not guarantee the right answer either.
