Well done and congratulations on your work. You should feel very proud of what you've acheived there.

I just love the stairs, (all of them!) and the use of beautiful timbers throughout, and the sympathetic furnishings.
I think you have the whole feel of the place just right. It looks as though your restoration would last a few centuries at least.
If we can just keep the planet going that is....

The bathroom is particularly superb, and the whole house seems to positively glow with gratitude.

Thanks very much for sharing. My place is taking a long time, (life has got in the way) but I'm inspired again by seeing finished
projects like this.

Thank you, yes I am both pleased and proud.

It is the culmination of 15 years input and my main target was to save the building to a high standard so being a man of my word even though I did not know how long or how much money it would take I stuck it out to the end.

3 quick questions if you have time to answer:
1) I love the painting of the black "skirtings"- what time frame is that appropriate for?
2) Where did you source the iron handrail down stairs?
3) Did you know that there is a little sprite or ghost living in one of the bedrooms on the wall... (photo 93) he, looks quite passive though, so no need for concern.

Bathrooms low budget good quality so hopefully will not break your bank to much I can give you suppliers names etc and further advice should you wish.

3 quick questions if you have time to answer:
1) I love the painting of the black "skirtings"- what time frame is that appropriate for?

Very 17th century, I suspect it bridged 16th and 18th and beyond as well. It was clearly evident throughout the building here which has been dated to a 1676 build. Possibly regional I am not sure.When I went to Dunster to pick up the Stansell Award we went early to look around the castle, turned out it was not open but the shop in the stables was complete with a 16' ceiling height in there with white walls and 18" black skirting, seems a common theme. Although when searching fictive skirting board quickly on google it brought my website up as the most pertinent at the top of the list !!

2) Where did you source the iron handrail down stairs?

Blacksmith made on site using something called a scroll wrench it had to be offered up and altered quite a few times to get the radius correct. His details are on my website, he does call himself the travelling blacksmith so may come to you although he seems fairly static in this area currently just having become a proud father again.

Actually that is one of the several angels around the house,this one is the biggest so hopefully it will not have noticed your comment and you will not suffer its wrath!!

Now I should have known that was no ordinary ironmongery. A blacksmith and some angels onsite, oh, they'd be so welcome here! Please apologise to aforementioned angel; he appeared only shyly in the photo.

Thank you for explaining about the fictive skirting too- I'll shamelessly steal that idea as well.

If I don't contact you anytime soon to beg for details of gorgeous bathroom it's coz we've a very long journey before we get to that stage- the sale of our London flat, postponed by recession, a battle to get on mains water here, which involves the possible erection of a pumping station, the visit of a CO and architect to tell me if an extension is sacrilege, some suitable building to put a bathroom in... oh, it just goes on. This is why I'm so full of admiration for your patience. I'm a bit short on patience myself.

Perhaps I question your understanding of the flush lavatory, it would appear a section, all important called the pan is missing, although I had heard that the forum may have been infiltrated by aliens from outer space who are trying to emmulate our wonderful built environment but maybe actually do not have the same physical needs as us.
