Ah but in Cornwall we give them pasties. Home made by our neighbour every Thursday - very very nice they are too as is the cake Mrs MdB makes the builders as well. I get the feeling the builders are a little bit spoilt (last Friday they got lollipops...)

I gave the masons home grown pork chops and some belly pork, and Friday beers if i was here before they knocked. They were always very obliging with other little jobs when I asked. You beget what you begat or begot or besomething in this world.

First fire in this fireplace for twentyish years. It has been a lot of work but it does seem to draw properly which I was really worried about.

I really must sort out my one "real" working open fire - it's currently got a basket sat in the full size builders opening which has been tiled (previous owner's handywork :roll: ) which means it doesn't draw properly and hence we never use it. I've got enough bits now to make up what I'm presuming was the original combination fireplace - matching an original bedroom one in the house, but much larger - so I need to choose some new hearth tiles and GET ON WITH IT..... :lol:
