Another weekend free so more work done on the house.

It was a nice day to be outside but probably too hot for the lime. We ended up throwing loads of water on the wall to try and stop the lime drying out too quick.

I think everyone should have a big trailer in the front garden.. The layer of cow poo is an added bonus.
The new liner for the chimney has also turned up (bottom left) and we may start playing with that tomorrow.
Henry was also keeping charge of things..

Hopefully the above will be the last picture of the garage as it will be coming down tomorrow. This will make quite a difference to the look of the house so we are rather interested to see the result.

Well, we didn't get all of the garage down but most of it has gone. Next weekend will get rid of the final bit.

I had the privelige to visit the MdB project whilst on a visit to Cornwall last week. Very inspiring to see the amount of care and effort that has gone into every detail, and how lovely the finished parts are, I'm sure the new extension will be great!

So another weekend of demolition..

Most of the garage is now gone as well as the lean to and the silver birch has been trimmed.

Unfortunately, we have had to do a newt eviction as living under the lino in the leanto wasn't the best place to settle down - and they weren't paying rent.

How they didn't get trodden on I don't know.

The good news is that we have arranged for one set of overhead power cables to be removed (at no cost to us). The bad news is that we will need to install a new sewage system. Oh well.

Was it damp under the lino? I heard some QI information recently that years back newts were particularly fond on spending time in old cellars under beer barrels. Hence the term "P****d as a newt". Not sure how true that is though.

Oh yes. Nothing like a Cornish built leanto for keeping the damp out.

In other news the concrete making up the patio turns out to be four times thicker than the concrete in the foundations for the garage.
