Second main oak support is now up and it is beginning to look a bit like a monster of an extension.
The boot room now has door and window frames installed and its first coat of render.
Internally it is also coming together. The concrete worktop is for the heat pump to sit on.

Is the extension a single-storey structure? I'm puzzled by the way that it extends beyond the gable end of the boot room and I'm interested in how it's going to work.
The oak frame is going to have a flat roof (we would have preferred pitched but there was no sensible way of doing it). It is going to look even weirder shortly as the roof goes on but should hopefully calm down a bit when the windows go in. It is however, going to look modern - even though built from oak. It will be interesting to see how it all blends together.

First part of the roof is now on.
Unfortunately it isn't water tight at the moment but hopefully will be on Friday - if doesn't rain too much.
In other very important news, the heat pump is reinstalled and operational.
This makes us very happy. I'll post more on it on another thread as it is something that gets mentioned a lot.

That structure is starting to look really exciting, MdB. Is it an effect of the camera lens, or is it a single pitch, high at the front, low at the back? And will the front (covered in tarpaulin) remain cantilevered like that?
Is the rectangle formed in the rafters for a chimney?

Yes please do MdB. I am especially lucky as having seen your house in the "before" stage, I am really looking forward to seeing the "after" stage! It must be really frustrating trying to build in this weather. It was bad enough in the summer, when we had such a wet spell, but to be building in a wet winter! In Cornwall! Lots of insulation. 200mm thick - should keep us warm I hope.

The gully is needed as we will be directing all the water from the back of the house onto this roof as it can then get drained into the stream at the front of the house.
The circular marks on the window are I guess from it being lifted during construction with vacuum pads. I good go over with windolene (the clear spray - not the pink stuff) but it hasn't touched it. Anybody have any good ideas on getting rid of the marks?
