First world problems, eh?

I have a friend with an A3 TDi, 6 years old, full service history, 80,000 miles, only used for a gentle daily commute through the local countryside. A recent big-end bearing failure and a £4,000 bill means that he is very grumpy.

That's a really top-quality grump, Feltwell. I do hope others on this thread will follow the example of a really professional grumper.Feltwell said:Well I, for one, as the originator of this unintentionally long-running thread, want to grump about the number of people grumping and the general volume of grumps. But that in itself is a grump, thereby perpetuating my own grumpiness. I am, as you can see, caught on the horns of a dilemma, a grumpy one at that.
Feltwell, who has been somewhat absent of late.

Not exactly a grumpy grump but I do wish people would realise that water condenses inside engines just as much as it does inside houses. Cars need to be thrashed regularly to get the oil properly hot and boil off the water. A low mileage second hand car which has only been used by a little old lady to go three miles to church once a week is a far worse buy than a high mileage sales rep's car which has been driven hard and regularly professionally serviced.

To clean a house you need to do housework. Presumably, to clean a donkey you need to do donkeywork.

(By the way, welcome back from your sojourn in outer darkness, or wherever you've been.)
Strange... I seemed to pick it up with no trouble at all.Feltwell said:it takes hard work, dedication, skill and years of practice
