A surfeit of squirrels!

This year they've been in the roof of the kitchen, they've nearly killed a lovely old cedar tree and dug up most of my carrots so I decided (reluctantly) a few weeks back that I needed to lower their numbers...

24 'removed' since then and there were still five running up the garden this morning - the task seems endless/futile

No you're doing it wrong, put out some delicious nuts, maybe some rabbit food from the pet shop, they will leave the trees and carrots alone :wink:

I've had similar experiences with my roadside recovery renewal. The online price is just the cheap dangly carrot to lure in new customers. They then presume that a high proportion won't be bothered to switch again and the price slowly increases over time. Somewhat surprised to hear that yours went up substantially in one go because that somewhat defeats the object of premium increase by stealth. Good job on getting the online price.

Roadside recovery cover is something I've gone very cheap on. I've ditched RAC/AA, and gone for a Pay&Claim service. As our car is a boring modern car, in theory, the odds of a breakdown a low, so I see no point in an expensive level of cover.

Matthew has seen fit to cast aside this original Grump of The Day as if it were a superannuated Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition. So I thought I would revive it in order to demonstrate that, although it's a bit long in the tooth, it still has many memorable grumps for us to admire and reminisce over.

I should probably add a new grump to this attempted CPR, but during the past week I seem to have grumped myself to a standstill.

Well, I'll grump.

First weekend in ages where I'm free. Next weekend I'm free too. Desperately, desperately need to tackle the big bay window in our lounge - fairly major repairs been put off for far too long.

So, of course, the dry weather decides to break and it's chucking it down, with more forecast, so I can't start work :evil:

Supposed to be tidying the garage in readiness for when I can start work on the window, but in doing so I keep finding all these little jobs that need fixing.......there's nothing like getting distracted - not to mention this forum... :wink:

Don't forget to set aside time for the cuppa and KK - that should use up another half-hour.

Distraction and procrastination is pretty much an integral part of period property restoration, in these here parts anyway.

I'm supposed to be limewashing in preparation for a wedding reception we're hosting in August but it's surprising how many distractions keep cropping up.

Actually, I'm not entirely sure which is worthy of a grump, the limewashing or the distractions.

Updating a non period property is also subject to the above, in this part of 'these here parts too'!!

Ahh yes. We would have had major problems if I hadn't been able to rivet the handle back on to the watering can yesterday, what with it raining all weekend. And fixing a puncture on the bike I rarely use (maybe because it had a puncture). Lots of drills needed sharpening, and other essential stuff :wink:

If you've used up all the obvious distractions, how about making yourself one of those tool hanging boards - a large piece of white ply with hooks and the outline of every tool drawn on it?

That should see off a few hours.

No need, I've actually done something useful and started sanding down a door that has been off it's hinges and waiting to be sanded and waxed for, erm, let's just say some time :wink:

That and I've tidied the garage - well, a bit anyway - which guarantees two things:-

- By'eck, where did all that space come from?

- Where the hell is that widget, I know it was over there on the floor before I tidied last weekend...........
