Is it Montacute? I don't remember it being that dazzling white when I was last there, but perhaps they felt that, following my visit, the place needed a good clean-up (my wife would agree).

If it is Montacute, then I seem to remember that the family who built it made their fortune from the spoils of the dissolution of the monasteries.

However, I'm not sure that that could be described as 'genteel'.

No Montacute is a honey coloured Ham stone with no columns as is Elizabethan.

I think it is on the South coast somewhere, facing south, am I correct with that much Gareth?

If that's Montacute, the National Trust have done an awful lot of work without LBC since I was there last.

It's on the south coast, but facing East
