IE7 and maybe IE6, just can't remember, has the option to increase font sizes quite easily. At the bottom right hand corner of the screen probably displays 100% click on the down arrow next to it and you can adjust the font size.

Doesn't do anything to correct the font style for those that don't like it though.

Actually you can zoom almost any web page in or out within Internet Explorer. Just hold down your CTRL key and roll your mouse wheel.

It doesn't auto log me in anymore

I thought I was having the same problem and was about to ask Simon about it when I saw the little 'log me in automatically' button. Just like the old forum, but in disguise.

Doesn't work for me even if I ask it to remember me now.

No.
All was fine on the old board, though some did say that they'd now found that it wasn't logging them in when the new main site was introduced.
Sometimes now I can log in and read a post and when I return to the index it logs me out, other times I can stay logged in all day, but it never auto logs me in from the start.

It's bloody awful.

The large type isn't a permanent thing - it drops into it via a normal screen, so there's a delay and then you have to re-adjust, it's then all bold and hard on the eyes, makes everything over large (as indeed does enlarging the text via IE) and the highlighting of everything as the cursor runs over it I can't deal with for more than a very short while.

Very cluttered screen also.

Not much use to me I'm afraid.

To me, everything looks so much clearer and cleaner than before but I realise eyesight varies a lot.
Perhaps a lowering of the computer's resolution might help reading or an adjustment of the contrast and brilliance?

If you are using Windows, right click the Desktop and select "properties".
Then select the Settings tab.
The resolution can be changed there.

Following on my post of a few minutes ago, I tried to follow my own advice and lower the resolution.
I was surprised to find the type was a not displayed well at all.
Perhaps that may give a clue as to why the new format appeals to some but not others.
Rather than just trying to reduce the resolution it might be a good idea to experiment with a higher resolution too.
It might just make the type much clearer.
As a matter of interest, my resolution is set at the optimum for my flat screen, 1280x1024 pixels.
