I too know very little about the houses in question, but I think the point is that if someone who lives opposite the house and has a keen interest in saving it doesn't have up to date information, then the bodies involved have surely failed. I would have expected them to want to involve the local community, help them understand the challenges and seek their support. But too often (and in one situation I have personal experience of), these groups allow themselves to become aloof or create the impression of 'superiority' to the peasants (those of us in the local community). I applaud the hard work (and as Nemesis points out correctly, the funds they donate)...but it doesn't make them unaccountable. If it had been a private developer I am sure many on this board would have been quick to criticise.
