You win the prize!see penners.Its in naveby and is well worth a visit,its so small inside and at one time there were four people living in it and even then they kept one room for best.Mrs smith lived there until she was 102 and its now open to the public,the staircase/ladders hoist up for security and to save space,Well done Joce your turn next.

I loved this extract from the 'restoration' section: The aim was to have the cottage looking almost exactly as it was when Mrs Smith was living in it, but extensive work was necessary on the roof to make it watertight. . . . . so, good enough for a 102 year-old lady but not when open to the public!
I just hope I'm that sprightly if I ever make it to 102 (my grandmother made it to 102 this year and is still going fairly strong).

On our trip round the guide pointed out a small plastic television in the parlour on which she watched the snooker and Jackie Pallow wrestling on saturday afternoons!Im suprised that with current health and safety regs they can let the public in with steep ladders and low beams,well worth a visit,it does not take long but does not cost a great deal and there is a good chippy in the villiage(oh he is on about food again!)phil.

I'm ashamed to say I don't know how to post a pic of a period property in these posts that's not on my flickr or photobucket accounts. And I don't know how to get a pic off the Internet onto those accounts. I also don't know how to use a scanner.
So, sorry about the quality but I've taken a photo of a photo here, as I have finally learned how to upload pics, and can at least open an old photo album.
Where am I, and why am I choking back tears in this picture? (It's not the UK)

Well done Jaqi right (pretty much) on both counts!
I was crying because of panic, it takes hours and hours to do this trip, and once you're crammed in on those steel stairs with a crush of people behind and in front there is no escape. Because it takes so long to get to that bit at the top and thousands are waiting behind you feel a huge impetus not to linger, and there is no bar!
I'm a shocking tourist. Anyway, your turn!

Gareth's clue made me smile though, because we found it rather difficult, impossible in fact, to get in when we visited Colditz soon after the Berlin wall came down. We were visiting Brandenburg and decided to go home via Colditz (not at all 'on the way' if you check a map!). After a long drive on terrible roads (especially around Leipzig, I recall) we arrived to find the place was in use as a hospital and that although there was a small museum inside, it was closed on Mondays - the day we visited.
And not all that far from Prague actually.
