Thank goodness he said something. I was going to do so if the bickering was still going on but as I've had the best part of a bottle of Pinot Grigio with tonight's roast chicken (yum) I would not have been as diplomatic.

I love it when people give me quotes. Then I twist them and bend them to make them say what I want them to say, and get it published in all sorts of places. Be Very Careful what you say to me.

This one's a new reporter who I think actually is keen to get a sensible story. He's already made a mess of one report and been put right by a number of irate readers, so this time I think he will be careful.

Otherwise I threatened to storm the newspaper offices and beat him up.

I think he knew I meant it. But the joys of PPG15 I suspect may not be too easy to make sexy.

I gave him the phone numbers of 'a national figure in conservation' and regional EH Historic Areas advisor too, so I think he thinks he may have a national scoop.

I also suggested he looked up past retractions, corrections and letters they have printed from me so I think he got more than he bargained for when he rang for a quote!

It's possibly not a good idea (hic) to post on forums when you've had a glass or several.
