Those petitions are essentially Spam - delete them unread.
Nearly every mailing list was targeted over the weekend and it caused almost as many problems as some viruses.
I believe some places are going to try to take action against those who mass-sent the mails.

Surely it depends on what the petition is about?

Who'd say that stopping the airport expansion is not spam, but stopping unfair road charging is?

Which places are going to take action against senders of a mail asking someone to sign a petition?

I think it's "viral email" (consciously sent by people you know) not spam (sent by robots)

But it's our government so it's our income. We all like our government to tax less and spend more but that's really rather silly. The discussion should be about spending priorities. Some of us may wish more to be given to SPAB and SAVE than to the army, but that's probably a minority view.

Or just get the army to defend Buildings At Risk.

But SAVE doesn't receive a penny of public income - and nor does it wish to really I think. That way it remains independent.

If only the government taxed less, we'd have more to donate to worthy causes like SPA and SAVE.

Wahtever you donate can of course be Gift Aided - and that way for every £1 of donation an extra 28p can be claimed as both are registered charities.
