I can't recall how I came across this site either but my first posting seems to have been October '04. Sadly the October '04 posting was on a topic where I have not made any progress in the intervening six and a half years!

Looking at the names on the old list, brings back memories!

I can't remember how I found PPUK. It was probably while generally searching for information on how to deal with a listed property before deciding to take on our own particular, er, 'project'.

My biggest surprise, though, was reading through the forum and finding a chap known as 'skier-hughes' was already here. It was a surprise because we had already got to know, and subsequently meet, each other through a video technology forum during the previous five years or so. We had no idea that we had another parallel interest. Funny old world.

PPUK and our CO were instrumental in helping me decide to take on our project. Without being able to discuss all the inevitable questions that arise before such an important decision and also being able to meet up with Middi and see first hand the sort of things I'd have to face and how to deal with them, plus having a CO that was wonderfully supportive about my plans for the property (and, indeed, suggesting many things I hadn't even thought of), then I would probably now be far wealthier, warmer and more comfortable . . . .

. . . . . but almost certainly not as happy and content (and I'm still working on 'warmer and more comfortable'!).

So, thank you PPUK, Middi and all the other PPUKers I've met and have yet to meet.

I can honestly say that it is a pleasure nowdays to discuss anything on this forum ( period property related of course) without that threatening antagonistic ( felt dangerous at times !!!) behaviour that boarded extremely close to insanity. ( it kept me glued to the site, brilliant entertainment :wink: :wink: )
Grimmers and his immaginary Brunilde ? . he brought sanity to the ( old) site.
Can't forget the time when someone was trying to find a solution as to how they could stop the draft from a dog flap in the kitchen door, a longish thread with all sorts of usefull suggestions.
( I am sure it was Grimmers suggestion to kill two birds with one stone, ie:- to shoot the dog and stuff it in the hole )
Or the time when someone was disgruntled that his road access was being obstructed by the local pub customers. All sort of sensible solution were offered, untill Grimmers came up with the Land mines suggestions.
Apart from the extremely usefull information that the site is designed for, it is nice to talk to all you nice people.( I am eagerly waiting for someone to "loose it" :wink: )

Ahh, that's the beauty about getting older, it suits us Italians. As we carry the " flustering" gene we tend to forget how to " fluster"( as one does with age) therefore sanity returns.

Now there's a man with suspiciously black hair. Ignoring his liking for girls young enough to be his granddaughter for a moment, some of the quotes he comes out with are priceless - Prince Philip has a rival in the tact & diplomacy stakes!

I really cannot remember when or how I found this site. It has been and continues to be a great source of amusement and information though, to which I thank you all.
