Frankly, reading the extended documentation, it is just going to be another money spinner for the Solicitors, Surveyors (as qualified) and of course the Energy Management Surveyors?? as well as woodwormers dry rotters, damp proof injectors. and uncle Tom Cobbley and all....
they assume a cost to the seller of about £1000.00 to be prepared before the property is offered for sale.
so we will see firms appearing saying "come to us and we will get your HIPS report for only £999.00 to 1999.00
and who will police them? like policing the rest of the above list.
I gather some of the big firms have invested pretty large sums in "training" surveyors.. (but who trains the trainer, and for how much?)
but we have said all this and still it goes on.
Sorry but I do not think there was anything wrong with 'caveat emptor'
and a private Survey.
