I'm steadily ploughing through cataloguing and thought this would be of interest maybe??



This shows the difficulty in collecting books. These two are part of a rare series of six volumes of 1897 and, when originally printed, had gilt blocks to the spine and front cover and was had gilt edges on all sides.

I suppose most people who bought books about plumbing were plumbers and, going by the condition of the water damaged book on the right this plumber had a leak in his library. I know of one other set in very good conditions and that's priced at £148. I might be lucky to get £20 for mine, if I was selling them that is.

133 books done so far so that's one bookcase and one more to go before the boxes...

I need some help again everyone with Excel. I'm cataloguing my books using Excel in landscape format printing on both sides of the page and the problem I have is numbering the pages in order so that the numbers stay at the top of each page. Does that make sense? I intend to hinge the catalogue at the top edge.

You can put automatic page numbers (and other things) in a header (or footer) for each page.

Look in the 'File-Page Setup' options under the 'Header/Footer' tab.

Right chaps, I've got nearly 40 pages in the catalogue so far and, despite your help FF with the header/footer, all my pages are coming up numbered No.1 not 2,4,4 etc.
I'm using Windows 7 which has icons on the top of the screen to click but I can't find anything about sequential numbering.

I also need to know how to make an index of the books. Each page starts with a column for numbers and the next column is the titles of the books. At the moment I'm having to scroll down through every pge to find the book I need.

Never had this sort of trouble making things in lead...
