Sorry Biff, Jon and everyone else. In my defence, I have used more lime than cement so far and that bag hasn't moved for the last year and it is now completely out of date. It's main use was to hold up the tent we were sleeping in.

(Unfortunately, it was the oak flooring which squashed the tent flat. Must be more careful when moving it next time...)

Don't tell anyone - I've used cement too at times. New garage contains cement as well as lime.

Monitored my lack of flashing after extreme rain and it is hardly getting wet at the top of the rafters with the weather coming in the way it has been from the west, so should be fine.

That's what I thought, we occasionally get rain which drives against the north wall but only a few times in a year but I have never noticed the east. I guess as it is around the rear of the building I do not frequent it when it is p**sing down wheras I have to walk past the west and north to get in when it is raining and get woken up by the rain driving against the south elevation.

Do we get any rain from the east?

Since rain drives in under our garage door when rain combines with wind from the East, I am fairly sensitive to the issue. I'd say it is perhaps half a dozen times a year at most for us but tends to be short duration and certainly not prolonged like it is from the West.

If your home was contructed without built-in gaps already in place, you can now get special plug-in ones that you can retrofit.
