Another bear of very little brain. How comforting.
I've been flicking around trying to find an index page with "view posts since last visit" and have failed miserably. All it says to me is "mark all topics read".
Never mind; I understand the little white page marker now, and it's very useful.
On a lighter note - The Shed Has Been Erected, more or less, and by the end of play tomorrow we should be celebrating with some of Tesco's best (Half Price Special Offer) Cava fizzing merrily away in the cups from our vacuum flasks.

Moo, view new posts is on the very first page. Top right, view posts since last visit.

I agree that threads with new posts are put to the top of the list. (although that is no different to the old forum) What I want is for each new posting (within the thread) to be marked so I can easily tell which are new.

next to the word "posted" at the top of each post is a little box. If it is white it is not new. If it is purple then it is new.

right well have you "pressed " " mark all posts read"? which I cannot find on mine to point you to it.
Then when you visit the forum, don't go in anything until you have selected view posts since last visit.
A list comes up of new posts. Only use the little pale blue box with an arrow to get into the thread with, under topics. This should then take you to where you have already read up to.(plus the last one you read)

But mine only says "mark all topics read", which only applies when you click on the topic heading.
I've taken to scanning down the list of posters on the right hand side, where there's the name of the last poster and a little white box thing. When I click on that it takes me straight to the end of that thread, which is convenient. But as far as the computer's concerned that doesn't count for marking the topic as read.

When I moved from my two wheels (a Vespa) to three wheels (a Heinkel) to four wheels (Hillman Imp) the philosopher who did the part-exchange pointed out that each added convenience was really just one more thing that could go wrong.

I can't work out how do operate the quote bit... where do you put your own text after you've pressed quote and highlighted the bit you want to quote?
Also have the same problem as Moo with the 'log in automatically' bit., I have to tick the box every time I log on.

It's to do with your security setting. When you next open PPUK look for a little icon of an eye at the bottom of the screen - with any luck it will be there with a little red mark over it.
If it is there, double click it and a security screen should open. In the box it will say that periodproperty.co.uk has been blocked. Right click and change the security to allow cookies. You should be OK after that.

Oh, dear. I really am trying to love this new site, but it just aint getting any easier.
What I liked about the old one was the way that
- one could see the whole thread at a glance
- new messages were clearly highlighted
- one could click on a message anywhere in the thread and go straight to it, and then scroll through to see the others.
And I could type faster. This one seems to have a job keeping up with me.
