The roof was put on in the sixties, during its 'modernisation' :shock: One day it'll come off and will again be 3 stories with dormers in the roof. I have a pic of it from 1706 to work from

The best liner insulation jacket I've used is called Chimwrap from Stovesonline:

Their site gives plenty of detail. It's not cheap, but it is a first class product which I highly recommend. We used it to wrap a flexi liner before installing it in a big flue - sounds similar to your situation.

I often find that I mix up Swahili and the Waipahu dialect of Hawaiian. It's a common mistake.
