I have no experience of Vista - but XP seems fine to me, rather better than the Windows 98 ver 1 which I had until last year!

I like the way XP handles pictures. I can do all sorts of things I couldn't in the past.

Try Firefox with Adblock Plus installed and then report back.
Webpages without ads are so much better. (yes, I know many webpages are supported by ads but that is their business model not mine)

If it runs on 98 it'll run on XP.

If you are referring to programmes that run on 98, then unfortunately many will not work with XP, which is one of the bug bears of any major upgrade. Many XP programmes won't work with Vista, unless they have been specially patched.

It's always better to have two or three different browsers installed on your computer. There's no reason to have to choose and say "I'm a Firefox user or I'm a Safari user..." Use both!

Web developers SHOULD design their pages to run well across platforms, but that's the ideal world, not the real one. Many times I've had to fill out a form that wouldn't work on one browser and works fine on another. Forms and security issues seem to be the main reason I have to switch from one browser to another.

Why? Opera does it all just fine.

I did try Lynx but found it increased workload rather than reduced it.

I used to get that years ago, as old versions of Opera didnt support dhtml, but I've not encountered a single page I cant see with opera 7 or 9.

Yes I'm biased... and theres a reason why.
