The problem is - while those are being pursued, the other options take a back seat.
Nuclear - I will never be convinced that it is anything but a disaster, and wind - we are all being led by the nose and having it thrust upon us no matter how bad that is, no matter how unsuitable the location for many reasons, as many are making a mint.

What other options? The methods still in research are not ready for mass use, and likely wont be in future, and the only other mainstream approaches are carbon disastrous.
The only one that is ready technically and pays is solar thermal, but for some reason we seem to be stuck in an ignorance-warp with that, with those that make the decisions looking only at solar systems that are so badly designed as to be fairly much useless.
