However, from what I remember, if the reset button was illuminated, that meant "lock out", and the first thing you tried was pushing the reset button back in.
If that fails, have you looked for a "high limit" reset (often a protruding pin underneath a cover). This can lock out if the unit has reached too high a temperature for some reason. My Stanley didn't have one of these, but your more modern one might.
Next thought - does yours in fact have the deflector paddles or not? If it does (although actually I doubt this) then check to make sure that none of the fireproof ceramic foam has broken off and blocked a burner.
