In case anyone is still looking for a hotel, The Bird in Hand in Hailey (just outside Witney) used to be very nice, when I worked in Witney. It's a good eating pub with nice rooms. And it's very convenient for Juju's house.

My last experience of it was 8 years ago, mind!

Good suggestion Penners for that hotel. It's only 10 mins drive from our house. We ate there a few years ago and it was very pleasant.

If anyone is arriving in Witney earlier on the Saturday to do some shopping for their period properties, can I recommend: Relics of Witney, Bridge Street (paint, wallpaper, ironmongery etc); The Old Pill Factory, High Street (antiques/collectibles, lovely things); Decorus, High Street (lovely things) and Witney Warehouse, West End Industrial Estate (second hand and new furniture, mirrors etc - very reasonable prices).

Just tried my outfit on - I couldn't breathe in it when I bought it in January. Happy to report I can now breathe but possibly not eat so a bit more jogging and gardening over the next month is called for... I can't decide though if I look like a 17th century lady of the manor or a serving wench from the local inn! Mr Juju will be in normal clothes as I haven't got time to make him anything - he keeps hopefully looking in charity shops but I don't think they usually have 17th century clothes for sale! He did get himself a jaunty hat though so he might just be in his favourite all-purpose Victorian through to 1930s get-up. Or jeans and t-shirt.

You need two weeks for the housework?! When we're expecting guests, I do the housework while Mrs P cooks. I can sometimes stretch it out to fill 20 minutes!

Well the housework has been somewhat neglected so since the party guests will be probably poking into every room I feel the house needs a good clean and tidy! But yes normally I do housework for visitors based on them just going into one bathroom, kitchen and living room and can do a quick clean in 10 mins if necessary depending on how much notice I've been given!
