I'd disagree with that, having taken the train a couple of years ago (yes, lazy I know, but with 2 small children + a pregnant wife, walking to the top of Snowdon wasn't really much of an option...)
It was horrifically expensive and we were packed in to the carriage like sardines - even British Rail never got that many people in a railway carriage! I was packed into a space that anyone of 5'6" would find very cramped and uncomfortable, which was a slight problem as I'm over 6' tall......
Snowdon Mountain Railway is best avoided in my opinion.
