Its certainly tempting and I have always had the urge to put a tea cosy on my head. I'm not sure its in the Simplicty pattern book though.
Since we are on the subject of Regency dress I wonder if anyone can help me date this picture:
How I came to acquire it, get it restored then give it away is a story I wont bore you with. It was painted by James Lonsdale, a pupil of Romney, who died in 1839. The subject, the wife of a wealthy Rochdale wool merchant turned banker lived from 1788 to 1853. I am guessing that, as a member of a provincial newly rich family, she may have been trying a little too hard to be fashionable. This image was taken before the polyurethane varnish was removed and the picture cleaned.
