There are thousands of deaths each year on the roads, several times as many injuries per year, more die in hospitals in the UK due to infection and so on. Anyone can google for the main causes of road accidents and how to cut your risk.
But lets really get to the point, the top 2 killers. Half the population dies from heart disease & cancer, and around half of those deaths are estimated to be easily preventable.
Even spending that £15 on fresh fruit would save more lives than spending it on equi bonding. Which is precisely why other countries dont do it.
The trouble with safety culture in the UK is that too often there is no-one in a position to debate some of the more dubious claims that get made. I've seen this repeatedly with electrical installation, where safety bods sometimes dream things up that are not happening in real life, and decide they're dangerous without checking with the real life evidence.
A classic example is water heating element leakage. Its a common minor fault that isnt killing anyone, yet the safety inspectors have a fit over it and call it unacceptably dangerous, must be taken out of service immediately etc.
At some point one needs to understand the process and be aware of its limitations, then get the facts.

Since I can no longer buy red/black wiring I'll have to use the new colour wiring, which is OK, and I don't need to tell anyone about anything.
There's plenty of the old colour cable available on eBay. (Not that I'm suggesting anyone should buy it.)

Water should have a 10mm2 earth cable run to it, i assume it changes to copper with a stopcock, if so put the clamp after the stopcock on the consumers side before any bend or t.
The oil should also have a main bond where the pipe enters the building and again run back to the consumer unit.
A utility room is not a special location.Supplementary bonding is not required, but would do no harm, i clamp on the hot 1 on the cold

Hi tony,
the electric board have just told me that the water & gas should have a 16mm2 earth bond. This is in conversation re a possible move to PME, we currently have a length of pipe in the ground for earth and overhead supply of L-N.
Is this larger size because of the pme ?
