Gosh! Thankyou all so much for the lovely comments and I am so glad you liked my home! I sat and watched it with His Lordship, who was soooo not impressed with the other contestants and their oh so boring houses (not HOMES I hasten to add - not a creative bone in their bodies!) Lots of people have commented on my lovely green and gold wallpaper since the show and in the editing suite they obviously cut out the part where I explained that I actually dipped my finger in a pot of gold leaf paint (using a rag over said finger as protection) and literally traced all the embossed pattern with my creative digit! Very labourious but rewarding task indeed! And Joce&Chris, I hear you on the antique ornaments thing and you are right of course! Also, yeah sashes would be beautiful but funds would not allow when it came to replacing the terrible rotting windows put in by some amateur in the 90's, so we opted for (cringe, cringe) the dreaded plastic (we ARE on a main road but I know that is no excuse) but we chose a company that did period colours, so I was chuffed when you said I was brave to paint them a strong colour :wink: For Lady Arowena I will try and find out for you what series it is but I have a feeling it is 6. Will update soon on that one and HL has said he will put the best bits (in other words NO little ray of sunshine and the terrible twosome) on YuTube very soon. Thanks again, and by-the-way, my little fledgling finally fledged today! She ended up in my window boxes, bemused as she is still learning about glass, so we had a couple of mishaps tonight, but she seemed happy enough just to look in on us and say hello from my marigolds!!! Bless!!!

Just watched it! it`s just a game show for voyeurs isn`t it?,yes the best house lost,watched another show in error in which the "footballers wives" "house" beat a lovely georgian "home" so it seems to be the way it happens! makes you wonder what the "winners" spent their £333.33p on?maybe that chap bought himself another frock!

Tania - how did you do the amazing silhouettes in the dining room? I'd love to do a little series of them of me and Chris and kitties. Your dining room is EXACTLY the same colour scheme as mine, it's uncanny. A lovey colour for hearty feasts, red wine and roaring fires.

Joce, thanks again for the interest. Re the silhouettes, HL had a look on the internet, found some suitable ones (the main one featured on the show was actually of his late father who was a singer, hence the mic! The others are all period, mainly georgian) and it was pretty easy really as he just enlarged the images, printed them out, then I carefully cut around them and pasted onto the wall. Would love to hear how you get on as your idea sounds lovely! Oh, and some of them I painted a gold border around or added some kind of detail, such as feathers in a ladies hat, smoke from a gentleman's cigarette etc. So glad we have the colour scheme for the dining room in common (if I remember correctly the main colour is called Osbourne Maroon). If you would like any more photos, please feel free to PM me. I do actually have some really beautiful bits and pieces but not much of these were featured in the show. Just couldn't compete with Ray's sunshine tunics and ridiculous under garments you see! :lol:

I'm a bit of a window obsessive, and looked at the program again to look at your half bay. The main opening in your bay is very wide, and is roughy square. This is not the right shape for a single sash window. Perhaps it would have had 2 sash windows divided by a wooden mullion (I don't know if these have a special name) or even a venetian sash which if anyone isn't familiar with these has a large sash in the middle flanked by 2 very narrow sashes, one on either side, the narrow ones being fixed or hung depending on design. I think it would have had sashes as the rest of the openings look tall and thin which is usual for a house of the age of yours. What do others think??

Thanks so much for the feedback on my windows, Plastic Pigeon, and I have thought that perhaps there had been a wooden mullion between two sashes as that would have looked in-keeping, given that the windows are very wide. I hadn't really thought about Venetian windows, but these sound beautiful, and I am sure would have looked the part too. What this lone row of terraces have been left with now, unfortunately, are windows and frames which don't sit well with the character of the buildings. I suspect a change was made sometime over the last 30/40 yrs and every resident eventually followed suit! Unfortunately, although thoroughly checking local archives, I have not been able to locate any old photographs which look at the houses full on, just from the end of the road, looking down and flanked by trees, so no reference there! I don't suppose anybody would ever have the time, the finances (or even the inclination) to reinstate anything more fitting, in anycase during our time here, which is a real shame.
