Well, he's very lucky to have you working so hard. I'm on strike a lot of the time- low pay, miserable conditions here. Not even autonomy over colours! I hope you get your own way when the rooms aren't the children's?

What did you use to clean up the metal bit on that amazing fireplace? And what did you use on the tiles in the fireplace, and on the skirting?

DE-humidifier - only if you want to throw money out of the window. You may want to look at hiring a contractor's dryer for a much shorter time, the kind of thing used to force dry plaster, then leave it be for a few weeks and see what happens. Talk to a plant hire firm about the volume of the room etc. they should be able to advise properly.
As a matter of interest, have you discussed insulation with your CO; if so with what outcome?
