Thought I would post some pictures of this winter’s project. The back parlor.

This is what I started with. This is the chimney stack wall, notice the blown out ceiling plaster and the missing cornice molding.
i have rebuilt the ceiling with plaster and molded new cornice moldings to replace the missing. I only have a quarter of the ceiling repaired, have company staying over next week so had to tear down the scaffolding and clean up.

Ok, ceiling is finished for now. The ceiling is in primer and ready for colour, but that will be next winters project.

Another update to Gothichome, we are reinstating the front porch. The basic structure is finished, waiting on the standing seam roof to get installed.

It’s up to me now to make and install the fancy bits. Going with a ball and stick design for the standrels and brackets.

An update on the prettying up of our new porch. Phase one is complete. I made the spandrels took for ever to paint. Found a pair of barley twist newel posts. The colours are period correct.

More progress on our front porch project the skirting is finished. Next project will be making the balustrade

Same thing. Veranda is for rich people homes, porch for us poor folks.
