The farm dog decided he wanted to take a pee, so cocked his leg up and hit the elctric fence around the chicken coop......... he's not been near it since...... I've not seen him pee again either!!!!!

When we still had poultry we used to wee around the boundaries to keep the foxes at bay. It was easy for David and the boys, but a bit trickier for me. I struggled on and now have a Reputation for bringing Agricultural Porn to mind.

It's not easy being a Sex Goddess.

Yes--sort of. It certainly makes the foxes more wary of the place. Also, having our dogs spend time outside works too. When I go away with the boys and dogs, and my husband is here on his own, we get a lot more trouble with foxes.

The best thing we ever bought for our birds was an automatic chicken shed door which opened and closed in response to light levels, or to a timer (it was fitted with both). It meant we didn't have to go outside and shut the birds in on really cold nights, and we could go away for a couple of days without leaving them all shut in. It broke down a while ago and we've not repaired it, but I'm sure it could be mended by someone who knows a little about electric stuff.

Someone else told me they had one of those, ok, put that on my list of wants, I'll have a mess and if I can't do it I'll get the electrician to look at it while he's doing the kitchen.

Said saint already has one of those. It was a vain attempt some years ago to stop our West Highland Terrorist from barking.

And I don't think it would work on me. I don't actually bark - I just sort of mumble incoherently in a canine kind of way.
