I'm now inspired to do something about our cold house - well personally I don't find it too cold (other than the attic or should I say arctic bedroom) but Mr Juju's kids are here for half-term and there will be much moaning about the cold. I have a new rule that no-one is allowed to moan about the cold unless they are wearing a thick jumper and slippers! Nothing annoys me more than people saying our house is cold when just wearing t-shirts (and trousers etc too obviously).
Does thermal lining on curtains really make a difference? If yes, I can add it to the kids' bedrooms. We've got secondary glazing but I'm not sure it makes much difference. We also need to do the draught proofing on the windows as that was taken off last year for painting. I'd like to give the kids' living room an extra source of heat - as it's above the draughty cellar - but there's no chimney. Did anyone ever find a stylish electric woodburner-style heater? I remember someone else asking about it.
