I would still send the details to the guy who runs that site. I found some pipes in a wall a while back and I thought they were pretty unimportant but apparently they were there to ward off the devil him self.
It is also good to have these things documented.
Witch bottles dont necessarily have to be earthenware bottles with faces.

I have emailed the witch bottle guy with details, will be interesting to hear what he says.

Just had an email from the builder saying he had found foundations of an earlier building under the kitchen floor and an 18th century storage jar amongst the foundations.

Did people really still believe in witches in the 1930's or i wonder if it had just turned into a tradition. I'm regretting now not burying a time capsule of some sort under the floor.

If you'd met our next-door neighbour in the 1990s, you'd have believed in witches.

Her bottle normally contained gin.

I'm no expert on this stuff fluff but I think it isn't so much to keep away witches as to ward off generalised evil. Traditionally, the witch prepared the bottle, which contained various magical bits of you, or rosemary, and pins, and lemon. Let's face it, people believe this stuff now. My Orpington breeder had her house exorcised 2 years ago!

I'm sure the hiding of the bottle did turn into a tradition, just as many people have church weddings now without believing any of it (myself included).

Anyway, after photographing it I think you ought to hide that bottle right back again just in case!
