Please let me know if you have any experiences or opinions regarding the use of engineered timber in sash windows. It's a form of laminate and several companies now appear to be adopting it for making sash windows:

I'd have thought that good quality oak, douglas fir, or redwood would be more suited to the job. What about future repairs and maintenance?

windows of lesser quality during wet weather.
