Discount at DIY sheds

Hello all,

Been very busy of late so haven't posted in what seems like ages.

I deal with a lot of the big retailers through my work, they occasionally give out paper discount vouchers for their supplier's employees to use. B&Q have done it slightly differently this time round - they've done it as in internet link that you can print off - if you go to the link below you can get a voucher for 15% off everything that you can buy or order in-store (but not on-line)for a limited period over this coming weekend, that's on top of any other deals.

It's not being advertised but there's no restriction on who can use this, and I promose you all faithfully that it's not a scam - some of you know me as an occasional poster here, and the link came to me directly from one of the senior buyers within B&Q.

Why do they do it? Well, of course to drive short term sales and get free advertising like this! So, you can roast me for pampering to their corporate whims, but I figured that some of you might find this quite useful. I think most of my friends have had new kitchens & bathrooms courtesy of my vouchers now!

No problem, hope you all get some use from them. Penners, watch out, if it goes anything like my kitchen/bathroom shopping has ever gone then you will spend at least as much as you originally planned, you'll just get more expensive items than you planned, but at a discount!

Joce, despite Mrs F's best efforts with the grease on the rungs of the ladders I am still here, fighting fit. Life is a little chaotic at the moment - work busier than ever, plus my driveway and patio resemble Steptoe's yard! 18 pallets of reclaimed bricks that all need sorting and cleaning (how dull a job is that........) before I can start on the new garage.

Still, one of the old garages goes this weekend, thanks to Ebay! Saves me having to pay for skips to get rid of the grotty sectional concrete monstrosity, and of course it's recycling. Only problem now is stop the other garage, which leans against the concrete one heavily, from falling over when we take the concrete one down.... :shock:

And I have a new deadline to work to - for a 3rd little Feltwell is on the way! Arrggghhh! My 5 year old daughter (going on 25) has volunteered to move bedrooms to make way for the new arrival, and is now taking one of the big rooms in the attic. However said young lady has very strong ideas on interior design for her new accomodation, and doesn't quite comprehend why stripping, replastering, rewiring and redecorating the room should take more than 2 weekends at most.......

As for my plans for a 3rd (trying to get a girl to complete the set), Mrs FW has taken to leaving BUPA 2for1* vasectomy offers lying around the house... :shock:

What exactly is a 2for1 vasectomy offer??? I had kind of assumed that they'd snip both for the one price! The alternative that I could take a friend for free doesn't really appeal either. :shock: :shock: :shock:

Talking of B&Q, I noticed the other week that they sell wooden cable trunking...I couldn't find any anywhere when I looked last year and ended up using horrible plastic, thankfully it was only in an attic room though.

I'm banned at the minute. New garage starts being built next week, which means that the 2 existing garages have had to be demolished, which means that 2 garages worth of junk has had to find a home! I've taken 8 pallets to work to put in our warehouse, my dad's got the motorbikes, our cellar is stuffed to bursting, there are tool boxes in the scullery, and I've half killed myself lugging stuff up the attic.

Throw things out??? No, you can guarentee if I do that I'll want it next week..... :wink:

A bag of the pink stuff that must not be mentioned, two wall lights and a paint roller.

Not very exciting but it does mean that the bedroom is that much closer to completion and we can get out of the tent.

Yes. Normally they do the vouchers in a paper format only for the suppliers, restricts numbers I guess.

I'm sure it's a total coincidence (not!) that these vouchers came out valid for the last weekend of their financial half year, just before the results come out..... Oh, and as their trading week ends on a Saturday night, the bank holiday Monday falls in the 2nd half of their year.........

But, 15% is 15%, better than nowt!

19th January, which if true will only be 1 day away for our son's birthday.

So much to do!!! I've had to go all sensible and buy myself a people carrier this week - you can't get 3 child seats in the back of an "ordinary" car. How times change - I can clearly remember me & 4 other kids in the family piling in the back of dad's Ford Cortina, not even a seatbelt to use. You wouldn't dream of doing that now.
