Not all are as willing to fight for the area in which they are employed. (Not all are demi-gods like wot you are you know...)

Latest news is that a preservation order has been made for the Sanger relics on the Dreamland site, while an attempt is made to list them. (I know as I was involved in getting someone down to the site urgently while things were being demolished...) Then there's the news that the site owners have been charged for the erection of a fence around the Scenic, etc etc.

I'd go for green - authentic and looks classy.

Red isn't a period colour for paintwork.

I was talking about the front door, although a kind of British racing green would look good too.

went for a trip down memory lane last week to the village i spent my childhood in (everythings much smaller than I remember!) - saw my childhood home again - victorian terrace next to and above the village shop my mum used to run

ignore the wheely bin - that wasn't there, nor was the upvc, or the vernacular planting scheme on the path!



could be why I like red front doors so much

yes, you are right of course (always are !) - when we were there it was dark green - both the door and the woodwork - I really wish the front door had been open - the inner porch has the most lovely tiled floor and the inner door was lovely too - hope it's still there !!

Nemesis - have you any links to 1740's farmhouse - or "country " doors on properties? - our problem is that the house is from the Georgian period but not a Georgian house being a humble farm cottage - any Georgian country cottage/house books (and I have a few ) just show open porches and we need to replace the rotten exterior front door on ours as the porch gets weather

Vernacular Architecture Group might have more info. I suspect though that many doors would have been oak and unpainted (or limewashed) originally, paint being expensive and hard to come by in rural areas.
