I'd like one room to be finished.
Just one room.
But finished.
No holes in the floor, no wires poking out of the wall, no holes in the ceiling, no sections of cornice missing, no taps that dribble or squirt icy water over everything, no expanding foam stains in the carpet, no expanding foam expanding mushroom-like out of holes, no ceramic tiles laid over carpet, no funny damp smells, etc.
Just one room.
But finished.

In our previous house it only took me four years to have one room finished...
What I'd like now is my garage built... been since May getting PP and looking for builders who don't see us as a crock of gold... really don't want to build it myself... well in a way, I do, but I don't.

Ahh, Malcolm Tucker - truly a man with a fine command of the more expressive, emphatic but basic words in our fine language. An inventor of new ones as well - "Omnishambles" entered the OED thanks to that character.

All the requests sound extremely reasonable to me! Hope they all happen - well they will happen I'm quite sure, but whether in time for Christmas is a different story.
I just want the pond to work, at the moment it's in danger of leaking out at the western point. Putting a gigantic pond on a steep slope isn't very easy.

Well last year Santa was a bit delayed (end of Jan) but eventually we did get the period property we wanted.
This year I'd like new sash windows and a couple of bathrooms please (oh and staircase bannisters with rails if you're feeling really generous).

Please can we have a December in this cottage without the boiler packing up, its not too much to ask, is it ? I would have asked for a finished dust free room but the novalty of heating up water in saucepans, on the top of the multi fuel stove, has now worn off. Maybe the BBC would like to film a 'How we used to live' type programme here. Even the dog has had enough.

Ooooh I know how you feel. After 5 years we've finally had a new boiler fitted, and the endless of chore of heating up pans of water is over. I still giggle with glee every time i turn the tap on and hot water comes out. I even had a bath this morning - just cos I could. The heating is working too, though strangely enough, after years of no heating as soon as we turned it on, we had to turn it off again as we got uncomfortably hot after an hour, and were rushing outside to breathe in cold air!
