Damp in new house purchase

I tend to work on the basis that if I put enough in then the odd one that ends up behind the chest of drawers doesn't matter much!

Unfortunately I think I have been a bit too specific, by actually naming a three year period. I got carried away by my self belief, in that I could finish my bathroom before Joce. I'll go and take a piccie as it stands.....

I'm sure Joce will have these problems well thought through, but you do need to be aware of the risks.

I can quite see how this issue of rewiring after redecorating certain rooms could become a complete pain. I think it's just because we're always coming from an empty roof void down into whichever ground floor room we're doing that we aren't affected by this, because there were no ceiling lights. The wall lights are being kept the same. The plan for the basement kitchen is to completely gut and rewire, removing tanking, if possible.

And fortunatlely the previous owner had the same attitude towards sockets as Mr P and has put about 6 in every room, and hundreds in the kitchen.

I can't fault his wiring of the house, it's meticulous (there was no electricity here until his arrival in 1984, he dug the trench down to Grantham and laid the cables!) - but I do disagree with his reticence to illuminate the ceilings. In fact our bedroom had no ceiling or wall lights when we moved in, I think they used candles.
