Our local recycling centre no longer accepts....
Does anyone know if there is anything preventing a householder from burying waste as suggested?

I sometimes wonder if we're all a bit too submissive these days, in the sense of having to ask whether we're allowed to do something rather than just assume it must be OK - especially if it doesn't affect anyone else.

Why on earth should we not be allowed to bury stuff if we have enough space and are sensible enough to bury it deeply. After all, that's only what the council does with most of the stuff we throw out anyway.

I reckon I must be mad to spend £150 each time I hire a skip (half a dozen or so to date) when I could get a local man-with-a-digger to dig me a nice deep hole for much less. I could even argue that it's not even 'waste' and I'm soring it for future use. :wink:

When our son lived in London he never bothered to take any chuckout household items (old bed, broken down cooker, etc) to the recycling centre. He just left them out on the pavement overnight.

They were always reliably nicked.
