i just dug a trench , 600 mm deep and around 15 meters long with all my fingers crossed , please dont let me plaster my bathroom or do the plumbing with my fingers crossed. hope it all works out ok , the waiting is a nuisance , we have three weeks to wait for ours to arrive but i can imagine the last few days to be a long few days.

The simple word, "no" doesn't begin to convey the vehemence of my reply to that question.

You're all very kind to enquire about young Mrs M's progress. The answer is that there is none. She spent all of yesterday having regular, modest contractions, while walking around a local fete... studiously avoiding the bouncy castle (which was possibly a missed opportunity, with hindsight).

Today - nothing.

Mrs P is staying with daughter and her husband. I'm staying well out of range of thrown objects.

Is dynamite available on the NHS?

I once knew a chap who used to be a sheep farmer somewhere in South America. Apparently they used to help the ewes along by sitting them on their (the farmers') knees and jiggling them up and down.
Might be worth giving it a try.

I have heard that the consumption of pineapple can help move a reluctant baby along.

This is possibly too much information ( :shock: ) but we found pineapple, curry, and a quick attempt at [edited out on the instruction of Mrs FW!] (in that order) worked a treat.

In the olden days, when Mrs P gave birth to your lovely daughter, doctors used to hurry things up a bit by doing something called 'inducing'.
Has this procedure fallen out of favour? Or is it that the waiting just seems very long?

I believe they'll induce after a certain amount of time if things don't start naturally. My sister-in-law's second child was quite late and they finally booked her in for induction on a Monday. On the Sunday evening things started of their own accord and all went well. 10lbs 12oz though. :shock:

No, inducing is still used, Moo. Just a bit more reluctantly than in days of yore (and my).

However, if Herself hasn't offloaded her passenger by tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, I gather that this is to be the next step. So, all being well, we hope to meet (and have a severe word with) the young chap on Saturday.

I'm voting Dawn for a girl (as in "new Dawn"), and Cameron for a boy (or for a girl, come to think of it!)
