Suspension could be a low cost option, but you'd need flexible one piece piping as theres nothing to stop side loads in wind.

No joy, I'm afraid, Graham. My friend can't remember the name of the company - he found them at the Chelsea Flower Show.

He did, however mention a business in Polstead, Suffolk, called Coulson's Bridges, who are said to be good.

They are the ones who've given me the £4k quote for supply. They make softwood bridges.

I'm waiting for Chuckey to turn up today though to build me the suspension bridge. It's obviously not going to take him long as he's not here to start work yet!!

Otherwise Karen's recommendation have got back to me with some questions and I'm awaiting to here more back from them.

On the back of Kevin's favourite on Grand Designs here's an update on the bridge.

It arrives on Monday, so anyone passing by [Monday pm Tuesday all day] is welcome to pop in for some tea and homemade jam sandwiches while they build a bit of bridge and get a guided tour of the house......................

I should really enjoy that - I have particular love of small timber bridges ("small" meaning smaller than - say - the Humber Bridge).

However, I'm afraid I have erections of my own to concentrate on at present.

The big yellow one is currently being handled by a nice young 18 year old lad.........

It does come already drilled and with all fittings, so it's just a big ikea boxed bridge really, so what can go wrong!!!!!

My father in law is a carpenter and joiner, so he'll understand all the technical bits, whilst I'll be providing the muscle (hee hee hee)

The delivery driver can get oto one side with his lorry, so he'll be dropping the two cross beams into place.. unless we have a terrible wet weekend.

I'll get Jo on the camcorder and camera, inbetween making the tea of course..... not that she's only good for making tea....... Oh bother it, I'm stuck down a big hole and still digging
