It's a good idea to take more than one brick, otherwise (he said so himself) he'll take some pains to get a good match for what may not the the "typical" brick you actually need.

Reclamation yards often have tudor bricks too. I managed to get a couple of dozen last year at 75p each.

75p? i suspect new ones are cheaper? i also suspect that the repair will be very noticeable what ever i use so i may as well use new ones , that is providing they are actually cheaper.
