I find that by visiting the site upwards of 200 times per day I can generally keep up with which posts have been updated. I know this is a strategy followed successfully by many other forum members.... using the little red blobs on the front page.

This also avoids the need to check my email so often (which is generally overflowing with crapulent whingeing from family members, gazillions of spam becuase I once made the mistake of getting an online quote from the insurance comparison site "confusedwhyyouregettingallthisspam.com", and not-to-be-missed offers from purveyors of internet degrees, rolex watches, viagra, and what could euphimistcally be termed "sausage enhancers").

I recommend turning off the email alert, and using the time saved to visit more often.

Fw - as always your advice is sage and invaluable. However, I suggest that there is an alternative strategy to your 200 visits a day. It's just one visit per day, lasting some 18 hours.

This achieves the same result with far less wear and tear on the digits which, in Gordon Brown's "Digital Britain" are your greatest asset.

Just to post something on period property once in a while., I have a KITY spindle moulder arriving in a few days from the eBay emporium. I want to use it to do the moulding on my soon-to-be finished oak doorframe. I have a copy of the Spindle Moulders handbook which is quite scary... do you/Biff/Andrew and other woodworkers have any tips/advice?

I was building a router table but am not sure it will be up to the job of some of the bigger mouldings for doorframes, and I have this crazy idea of having a go at some windowframes in the future.

I'm very jealous! Is it a dedicated spindle moulder, or a multi-function jobbie?

Advice? Well, I think the best advice I can give is to remember the old adage: "There is no such thing as a slight accident with woodworking machinery". Just remember that, as previously discussed, you're going to need all those digits.

As you've bought the machine on eBay, I presume it's second-hand? If so, have a careful look at any cutter blocks that come with it. In particular, be wary of old Whitehill blocks - the type that hold the cutters by "pinching" them into a recess (I believe these are now illegal anyway). If the bolts that squeeze the cutters into place become worn, you can end up losing a cutter at 6000-odd rpm. I once had one embed itself an inch into a concrete block wall.

And never, NEVER get careless or casual about using your guards.

Penners- no, sadly not a combination machine. Just like tunnelling out of a concentration camp and dumping the spoil in the veggie garden, I can only trickle small purchases past the steely gaze of SWMBO.

Sadly after a little more investigation, I discovered the chap I am buying it from bought a couple of weeks before for £80!. He seems to buy wood working equipment and sell it on.

Similar new ones seem to start at the £600 mark, without the sliding table; so I am "well chuffed" as I believe the popular parlance would have it. KITY is not the best make in the world, but will be more than enough for me. Decent table and cast iron construction. Aslong as the fences are square, I should be very happy with it.

There's others on eBay just now - lots of good kit at reasonable prices. And www.shiply.com is a kind of reverse eBay where you post your lot, and obliging chaps with half-empty lorries vie with each other to deliver it for you.

A couple of washers should shim the fences if needs be.

I don't know whether your spindle deal included all the tooling that you need, but if not I presume you know about Axminster, do you? My favourite power tool company, who sell anything and everything for woodworking (and a lot else).

Thanks Penners - yes the machine comes with a number of cutters, but won't know which until it arrives. I like Axminster for their sheer range. Rutlands can often be good on price though.
