Wisteria a turn off?

Well well, Inwood, what a surprise you mentioning the three houses in Ampthill with the wisteria growing. That was the picture I have still failed to put on--- I owned that house! The wisteria was thought to be 90 years old, has a TPO, was absolutely not a problem to look after and is not mentioned in the deeds!!!!!!

I've been reading articles on the Chelsea show lately and I'm finding the idea of "fashionable" and "unfashionable" flowers odder and odder. Flowers are, to me, above fashion.

My personal division in garden plants is "tender/exotic" and "hardy/native". While I know that many plants have been introduced over the years (tulips from the middle east, for instance) I have problems with landscapes full of tender, exotic, sometimes bizarre, plants. I can't grow hollyhocks and delphiniums here in Texas and I won't grow cacti and sages in my Suffolk garden. Just doesn't seem right to me.

You could grow cacti and sages in Suffolk. You just need to build a nice uPVC greenhouse and put an oil-fired heater in it.
