All he is saying is that there would in older properties often have just been one horizontal glazing bar, albeit fairly thick. I tend to think this is a personal like of his. As has been mentioned glazing/windows is a very
personal thing. All the windows in my property were replaced in one fell swoop in the early 80s. We have tracked down one of the residents when this was done and I am interested in finding out if it was a like for like swap.
As the property was once 3 seperate cottages there would have been a right mix of windows I think, or then again maybe not but that is pure speculation as we have not been able to unearth any really old photos.
Yours look fine in being 4 units per light any more would have looked too fussy and a single horizontal , well until a see a house with some of these I cannot say.
