Seriously, the Old Crown at Hesket Newmarket is a very interesting pub and micro-brewery, with a unique form of ownership.

I know. I nearly bought shares and didn't... wish I had.

If nothing else I could have been helping my own profits.

The brewery and pub aren't really totally connected now apart from the brewery is in the barn at the back, and the pub sells the beer. Both are co-operatives but separate ones with close connections!

Nature knows no barriers. Be it a windmill on an exposed site or a poor soul exposed to the culinary delights of the Crown the results appear to be the same - a re-arranged bottom end-

The pub up the road here is in the process of building a microbrewery. He's put up a 6kW wind turbine (it's very windy here), and is incorporating solar panels on the brewery roof.

The structure is timberframe, with weatherboard cladding. The floor is limecrete.
