I wouldn't want a classic car to be stored in what looks effectively like a very poorly ventilated cellar. It must be damp in there - sump pump or not. Paint tins left in the cellar in my house go rusty after a year or so.

I don't think you'd have that problem in California, Florida or Monaco - which must be among the principal target markets.

Actually, I can see a few of this country's "nouveau riche" liking those garages. Let's face it, Posh'n'Becks or some Man Utd footballer in their Alderley Edge pad would appreciate that to park their blinged'up Range Rover Sport in and pose in front of their mates. And Cheshire certainly isn't dry!

There was a programme on TV a while ago about owners of very expensive personalised number plates (or "vanity plates" as the Americans call them). Some chap on there had one of those garages somewhere in the home counties, with his bright yellow Lamborghini inside, with his "Nick 1" numberplate on. The one to laugh at though was the chap who had the "Nick 2" plate and was desperate to buy Nick 1 - he was a desperately pitiful "wannabe" in many ways, his face when he turned at this blokes house and asked where the car was with the plate on, to then have it appear out of the driveway, was priceless. Who says TV has dumbed down eh?

I see the cunning trick there Penners - both those garages have the same ladder and container of screenwash. Surely the owner needs to add another layer. I reckon you should keep the tank on the lower level.

There weren't many houses with any off street parking in Hackney when I lived there. My car got broken into more often in Guildford. Now Islington...

I can explain that. I sometimes allow my neighbour to pop his tank in my garage while I've got my fighter out on active service. It protects his tank from the graffiti artists (although not completely, as you can see).
