Up a ladder changing roof tiles that the frost has damaged - well, not at this precise moment! As ever, "I'll just get the ladders out and change those 2 tiles" turns into "12 tiles changed later and I'm still spotting ones that are starting to decay"........

Cataloguing books still. I've done 125 so far and am now getting to the more obscure ones where it's difficult to get guide prices on their value, although I'm amazed at the value of the ones I have and how they've increased in price.

Maybe some more whatsits to liven up things?

I took my Morris Minor to church this morning (she had to sit outside; rector wouldn't allow her in - is that allowed?) and gloried in the sunshine and smell of hot oil.

My Dad has spent much of the winter hiding from my mother, sorry I mean busy in his workshop, sprucing up his Triumph Herald convertible. He took it out for the first time this year this week, only for it to be "modified" by a myopic Citroen driver :evil:

Heavily scraped all down the driver's side, all panels badly damaged. The other driver has admitted liability straight away which is something. My Dad had spent much of the winter working on yes, you've guessed it, the driver's side of the car, it was looking very good indeed.

At least it is still straight, the damage is cosmetic, and you can still get remanufactured panels for a Herald. The insurance company may write it off but it's definitely fixable, which will be worth doing - there can't be many 45 year old original convertible (as opposed to modified saloon) Herald's with only 19,000 miles on the clock.

That must have been heartbreaking! I know they're only cars* and that it's only metal and metal can be mended, but even so!

I had a nasty rear-end shunt in the Morris many years ago but as I hadn't got around to restoring that part, I wasn't overly fussed and my specialist of the time did a fabulous job on the repair and the 'extras'.

* That's just what unenlightened people think, the fools!

He wasn't best pleased. He semi-retired last year, this was a little project he'd bought himself. I was round his house only a week ago and he was very proudly showing off his handywork - driver's side done this winter, passenger side to be done next winter

Of course the insurance company's "approved repairers" won't touch a car that old, however the insurance company has now told him to find his own repairer. He's found a local bodyshop run by a bloke of "the right age" (as my father put it) who are happy to do the work, and for a very small extra fee will make it a full re-spray rather than just doing the driver's side.

I was a guest at Hearing Dogs for the Deaf spring Open day, then visited friends in their lovely old cottage in Haddenham.
Today's been trying to stop the leaks in my newly plumbed wetroom......... I'm down from 5 to 1!!

Ooh! morris minor! mine is not taxed (doh) may takr the austin seven out when our visitors have left! Nice Nash! last one I saw on the road was drifting on the cobbles around litchfield cathederal driven by a cleric with his robes blowing in the wind behind him!

Cut the grass (slightly too wet if I'm honest) but it was getting a bit long.

Dug through some of pile of stuff that came out of storage (now we have space for it), took a huge pile of cardboard boxes and stuff left behind by the PO to the recycling centre.

Not now I am no longer in the first flush of youth - I tend to stick to the sort of events that don't require flameproof clothing and a crash helmet!
