I recently bought the Haynes Manual for Period Property, thought it might be a bit of a joke book but it's actually very well written.

That would be one of my recommendations but since I've got some photos of my place in it, I'm a bit biased!

Hi there Vicky, I am relatively new to the site and I just saw your post on what to read? I have been reading a fantastic book called The Victorian House (Domestic Life from Childbirth to Deathbed). Sorry, I wasn't implying anything! I am most sure that your leg will get better! Seriously though, it's a fantastic read. My husband bought it as a present for me. He said it had been recommended and it's very very interesting and in-depth. Been snuggling up in bed every night this winter with my elec blanket and this impressive book! Oh, I forgot to mention the author - it's by Judith Flanders. Hope you get better soon, Regards Lady T

Thanks, Lady T. I've not read it so I'll add it to my next Amazon order. I'm proving to be very slow at reading at the moment. Everything has slowed down. Normally I churn through books but now I lie in bed and gaze out of the window. This morning I've got the window open and the church bells are being rung. It's gently raining and I'm thinking of those runners out on the coast path chasing a Grizzly.

Enjoy this slowing down Vicky, it isn't going to last. I'm now 5.5 weeks post-operative and everything's sped up! A million jobs beckoning, and back to the gym tonight.

Hope you get the showering problem sorted, you need carrying in and out!
