What thickness cement render?

if that were my wall i would buy 5 ton of top soil and pile it up on the outside against the wall , this way you have less to render and you can grow lots of lovely bushes as well. it works better if you live at the bottom of a hill , beside a stream , then you never have to water your new 'wall garden' and your nice wall bushes will flourish.

When I bought my house 20 years ago it had bedroom walls like that.
I took the skin off my elbows on several occasions and ruined several shirts.

MdB - I may be a day late with this advice, but I hope it's still worth consideration.

If you're going to make a proper job of that wall with traditional cement, why not make a real feature out of it, like this?

Then, when some project gets so frustrating that it has you climbing the wall, you can - er - climb the wall.

i removed the guttering from the back of my house to fix the roof over a week ago , if it ever stops raining i might be able to get out there and put it back on. :shock:
still , i never knew how nice a traditional mud garden can be.

Penners , that bloke in your photo is really lying down , you know like in the old bat man films? the wall is really the ground and the camera is on its side to create the illusion, thats really his kitchen floor with all his plastercine stuck to it..

The previous owner of my house (a plumber) never got round to putting the gutter back on the back of the house. Not that it makes much difference when the down pipes dump all the water at the base of the wall anyway :roll:
